$100,000 Donated to Springfield-Greene County Park Board
At the July Board Meeting of the
Springfield-Greene County Park Board, President Pat Dierking
announced the club’s intent to present a $100,000 check to the Park Board,
the culmination of 2˝ years of fundraising.
The money will be used to construct a universal play center for
disabled and handicapped children and adults in the Jenny Lincoln
Park. Groundbreaking to be announced
soon.
Champions for Children
Mo-Ark Kiwanis Governor Barbara
Thompson presented the Champions for Children Award to Downtown Club for efforts
in raising $100,000 for the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
Distinguished Club Award
The Downtown Club received the Distinguished Club
Award at the February Mid-Winter Conference.
The Community Foundation of the
Ozarks (CFO) awarded our club’s playground project a $10,000 challenge grant. This grant addresses one of the Red Flag community
health issues in our community.
Long-Time Member Remembered
Bus O’Neal, a 58-year member of the Downtown
Kiwanis Club, was recently presented a Lifetime Achievement Award for his
many years of service. Shortly
thereafter, we learned he’d passed on.
